Packet Pick-up

Today I warmed up for 5 minutes on treadmill, then jogged 4 miles (2 mi. at "5" and 2 miles at "4.8") on the treadmill.  Finished with a 5 minute cooldown.  I was dreading this, but it wasn't too bad, just very boring.  I'm looking forward to running with a group outside for the run camp.

Speaking of run camp, I picked up my packet at Gazelle's tonight.  Stayed for a "how to dress in cold weather" clinic.  It was quite informative.  Found out I can use my silk long-underwear (that I got for Alaska) to wear as my base layer.  Silk has good wicking properties.  I think I'll get a fleece shirt to go over that and maybe a jacket with reflective tape.  I'm going to check out some of the less expensive stores.

I'm getting excited!

Still delinquent!

I'm not back into the swing of remembering to write every day.  Last week I only made 4 days of exercise. :(

This week is going well, so far.  Sunday:  jogged outside 2.4 miles, walked 5 minutes
Monday:  20 minute Pilates video, 10 minutes osteo DVD
Tuesday:  rebounder 30 minutes

Tomorrow is the day to pick up my info packet for the 1/2 marathon at Gazelle Sports and learn about what to wear in cold weather (our group runs will be outside).  Don't know if I'll make it b/c of the blizzard.  It's really snowing and blowing here.  Everything is cancelled for tomorrow.

Sat. is the 1st group run for the Borgess Run Camp.  I'm excited and nervous.  The 1st run is 4 miles.  I'll be placed in a group of 12-minute milers (that's the slowest they have). 

Need to get on the treadmill tomorrow. I WON'T be running outside!

Delinquent Blogger

Now I have another fault to add to my list:  Delinquent Blogger!  When I started this blog, my intention was to post every day that I exercised, so that would be at least 5 times/week.  I started out doing pretty well, but, as so often is human nature, I slowly tapered off and would often forget to write.  Now it's been over 5 weeks since my last post!!! 

I'll bring you up to date on my exercise:  Only exercised twice while the kids were home for Christmas.  All together they were here 3 weeks.  I decided I'd give myself a break and pick back up after the new year.

I can't remember what I did the week of Jan. 3, but I don't think I made my 5-day goal.

Week of Jan. 10 = 4 days of exercise: treadmill and bike

Week of Jan. 17:  Made my 5 day!  Yeah, I'm back on track!  I did treadmill, bike and rebounder.

Today was the first day I've exercised outside.  Since it was so warm (31degrees) I couldn't resist!  It really was wonderfully refreshing and so much more easier than the treadmill!  I did a 5 minute warm-up walk, jogged 20 minutes, walked 5 minutes for cool-down.  I haven't been doing warm-ups and cool-downs until recently.  In reading about running a half-marathon (which I'm still planning to do), it says it is really important to do this, mainly to prevent injury.  At my age, I don't want any injuries, thus I'm taking the advice.

This Wed. night is the 1st meeting of the Borgess Run Camp, for which I signed up.  I'm looking forward to seeing what it's all about.  I've never run with a group before, and I'll be grouped with others of my same speed (slightly above turtle).

Thurs:  Jogged on treadmill 30 minutes - went 2.75 miles.

Well, no exercise Monday!  That means I have to exercise everyday for the rest of the week.
Today (Tuesday) jogged on treadmill 30 minutes (2.5 miles).

One of my faithful readers emailed and asked me why I hadn't posted anything lately.  WELL...... I only exercised one day last week; that was yesterday (Saturday).  I ran with Alicia; jogged 3.5 - 4 miles, walked about 1/2 mile.  Felt good to get going again!  Thank you, Alicia!

The week before, nI think I only made it 4 days.

I'm getting back on track this week.  Didn't exercise today, but tomorrow morningI plan to get up and get moving!
